Vessel chartering and brokerage for dry bulk and breakbulk cargo — tonnage matched to parcel size, laycan and route.
We fix tonnage against the cargo rather than against the freight index: parcel size and stowage factor, draft and air draft at both ends, gear on board where the berth has none, and hold cleanliness standards for food-grade cargo. A vessel that cannot work the discharge berth is not a saving.
Voyage charters suit a defined parcel on a defined route; time charters suit a programme of shipments where control of the vessel is worth more than a fixed freight number. We advise on which the trade actually calls for, then negotiate laycan, route and speed against the delivery window the buyer has committed to.
Charter party terms decide who carries the cost when something moves slowly. We negotiate the terms that matter — laytime allowed, demurrage and despatch rates, notice of readiness, exceptions, and who pays for what at each end — and we say plainly where a clause is unusually one-sided before it is signed.
Through the voyage the desk coordinates port agency at load and discharge, tracks laytime as it is consumed, prepares and checks statements of facts and time sheets, and keeps shipping documents moving so the cargo is not sitting against an incomplete set. Demurrage claims are settled on the record, not on recollection.
One counterparty, three desks — cargo, plant and tonnage handled by people who talk to each other daily.
